A terror plot to bring down an Etihad plane flying out of Sydney may have allegedly been planned.

The plane, that was set to depart with at least 500 people on board, might have been at risk as officers in Lakemba, Australia found a flight number alongside an address in a garbage bin.

Local reports suspect the terror plot may have revolved around a bomb, disguised as a meat mincer, or a device with harmful gas.

Connections were made and four men were arrested – brothers Mahmoud and Khaled Khayat, and Khaled and Abdul Merhi.

Increased security checks implemented for flights travelling from Australia

An Etihad spokesman stated that their security team is assisting the Australian Federal Police with the investigation, “Etihad is complying fully with the enhanced security measures at airports in Australia and monitoring the situation closely”.

Investigations are still ongoing.
