Your Daily Commute Just Got More Playful With Dubai RTA Using Emojis For Speed Signs
It’s a fact universally acknowledged that emojis make anything, something as serious as traffic signs, infinitely playful.
Something that Dubai RTA totally understands for they have installed electronic speed signs with emojis to try to slow down drivers passing through school zones in Dubai.
These signs come with digital screens that display the speed of the motorist as they pass through the school zone along with a corresponding emoji—happy or sad! A driving message such as ‘slow down’ or ‘thank you’ will also be displayed under the emoji.

The phase 1 of the project was commissioned in Muhaisnah 1, Al Mazhar, Al Wasl, Al Garhoud and Al Safa. Whereas the phase 2 will go into action soon and include areas based on the type of the road and the number of schools within the area, according to Maitha Bin Adai, CEO of RTA Traffic and Roads Agency.
