We’ve told you about the Safari Park…now scroll down for the video…

If you’re looking for something new to do with the kids in 2016, then you’re in luck. Dubai Safari Park is set to open halfway through the year. There’s been talk of it opening before 2015 was out but that’s not the case, we’re afraid.

Here at Lovin Dubai we’re not 100% sure on where we stand on the subject of animals in zoos but apparently Dubai’s new safari park/zoo is following the best possible practices after organisers visited numerous other sites around the world. The new site, which has been under construction since 2012, will cover 119 hectares, at a cost of AED 150 million, it will replace the current 1.5 hectare zoo at Jumeriah Road by relocating to Al Warqa opposite Dragon Mart.

The new site will be home to around 1,000 animals, of those, more than 350 will be species of rare and endangered animals. Each animal cage will be temperature-controlled and have been customised to suit Dubai’s climate. And in the UAE’s ongoing nod to being ‘more green’ the park will run on solar-power, that includes the running of the planned monorail and tram systems. The park will also feature 100 different kinds of plants and 2,500 trees.

Expect several themed areas, including Arabian, Asian and African villages, an amateur golf course, a botanical garden and a butterfly garden, as well as a food court area.
