Energy Drinks And Tobacco Products Are Going To Be Hit With A 100% Tax Later This Year
Energy drinks and cigarettes will be subject to a 100% tax in the last quarter of 2017, due to the implementation of VAT.
The Federal Tax Authority announced that the VAT would begin in the final quarter of 2017, with a 50% tax added to carbonated drinks.
It’s part of a wider implementation of VAT which the rulers of the country say is a ket component of the UAE’s non-oil revenue.
As of January 1, 2018, additional products and services will be subject to VAT
Which has been set at 5%.
