There’s no better time to try Emirati cuisine than this weekend (because it’s National Day, obvs).

And if you’re looking for a starting point, this is it. Local Bites Cafe (popular for its Emirati food) will be offering diners free luaqimat all weekend.

For those who don’t know, these sweet fried dumplings drizzled with date molasses are often referred to as the official sweet of the Emirates. Head to the restaurant between 8am and midnight today or tomorrow and you’ll understand why we’re raving about the dessert.
