A Huge E-Commerce Battle Is About To Kick Off With The Confirmation Of Jado Pado’s Acquisition
When the acquisition of Jado Pado was announced, it sent the digital sphere into a frenzy.
It wasn’t confirmed who had bought out the site – but it has become clear now.
The acquisition has been confirmed by noon.com’s founder – Mohamed Alabbar.
Chairman of Emaar Malls, Alabbar told Reuters in a statement on Thursday that noon.com had in fact acquired the local tech site, Jado Pado.
It’s the latest move in what will likely be a battle of the e-commerce titans
After Amazon acquired Souq.com in a bid to expand into the region.
Emaar did bid on souq.com, to no avail, and has now acquired JadoPado for an undisclosed sum.
Noon.com has yet to launch, after it missed it’s planned January launch date. The site is currently under construction.
And it looks as though there could be plenty more acquisitions to come
“JadoPado has been acquired by the tech-fund launched by Mohamed Alabbar, in the first of several acquisitions and partnerships as part of his digital/tech investments in the region.”
