More Than 20 Private Schools in Dubai Are Freezing Or Reducing Tuition Fees

Avatar

Parents can finally breathe a sigh of relief as tuition for some schools in the new year seem as like they aren’t going to increase.

Thanks to private schools in Dubai, some have opted to freeze or reduce their fees in an attempt to attract the brightest pupils in the school market.

According to the National, the recalibration of the market is being driven by better options and choices to expatriate packages.

In 2017, 22 schools chose to either freeze their school fees, pause opportunities to increase the tuition or have included extra curricular activities and uniforms into their tuition package.

Leading the change

Three schools in Dubai have already started the tuition freeze and reduction for the 2018 academic year.

Back in September, Repton School Dubai froze its junior school fees and reduced its senior school fees by 10%. While Foremarke Dubai School reduced schooling fees by 10% from FS1 to Year 6.

Horizon International School is the third Dubai school to announce a fee reduction of their own for the 2018-19 academic year – reducing the fees up to 33%.

Second highest school fees in the world

Second only to Hong Kong, Dubai reportedly has one of the highest school tuition fees in the world – parents pay an average total cost of AED356,000 in school fees from primary to university, according to HSBC.

While Hong Kong reports almost AED500,000 in total schooling fees.

Parents with children in private schools can hopefully take this as a breather as the education market rebalances itself over the year.
