GREAT NEWS: You Can Now Hold Multiple Jobs In The UAE Without Getting Approval From Your Employer

Dubai was officially named one of the best countries to freelance in the world, we told you a while back.

And thanks to the introduction of this new part-time contract, job-seekers will now be able to hold multiple part-time jobs with different companies.

Both Emiratis and expatriates can now enter this multiple employer contract, which means you can take several part-time jobs without getting an approval from your original employer, or any other employer.

According to this new part-time contract, employees cannot work for more than 48 hours per week or 8 hours a day, and must get a weekly day off.

Limitations of the part-time contacts

The contract is limited to employees who have a university degree and are also in a specialised profession that requires scientific, technical and administrative skills.

When hiring a part-time worker, under this new contract, the original employer must pay the fees levied by the ministry.

The employer will also have to take care of the employee’s annual leave, the end of service benefits and any other financial obligations with respect to their number of actual working hours.

According to Naser Bin Thani Al Hameli, Minister of Human Resource and Emiratisation, this new system will reduce dependence on labour being imported from outside the country.
