Two new tourist visa rules have been implemented by the UAE cabinet that are all set to boost tourism further in the country.

People travelling to the UAE during the summer season won’t have to pay visa fees for dependents who are18 years or below.

This will be applicable ONLY in the summer season between July 15 to September 15 every year. Also, transit tourists in the UAE will be exempted from paying visa fees for the first 48 hours.

This will especially help the tourism sector during the off season in the UAE.

Travel agents are welcoming the move

The most popular tourist visa that is the 90-day multi-entry tourist visa cost somewhere between AED800 to AED900.

According to Khaleej Times who spoke to agents at Musafir.com, total visa cost for families will come down significantly with these new visa rules.

“The total visa costs for a family of four (parents and two children) would be AED3,780. With the exemptions, families will have to pay only Dh1,890, excluding taxes,” said they.

It’s interesting to note that the period of the visa fee-free offer coincides with the European summer break, so expecting tourists from the continent makes perfect sense.

The number of international tourists visiting Dubai has reached 8.10 million in the first half of 2018 alone, in comparison to the 8.06 million that visited Dubai in the first half of 2017 last year.

With these new exemptions, the numbers are only expected to grow further.
