JUST IN: The Pope’s Visit Will Be Marked As A Public Holiday For Some People
Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church, is visiting the UAE next week and will also be holding a public Mass.
And it has been announced that the public Mass will be a public holiday
Private sector workers with tickets for the event will be granted a holiday, according to a statement put up by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
“The holiday for permit holders underlines the UAE’s commitment to acceptance and open-mindedness during the Year of Tolerance, and its ongoing dedication to facilitating interfaith dialogue,” the statement added.
Pope Francis has also shared a greeting to the leadership and people of the country and called his upcoming visit a new chapter in the history of inter-faith relations
The public mass will be held at Zayed Sports City on Tuesday, Feberuary 5, from 10.30am.
This is the pontiff’s first ever visit to the Gulf region.
