UAE Residents Are Being Told To Avoid Some Brazilian Produce For Health And Safety Reasons

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment is warning UAE residents against buying certain Brazilian food produce after 21 companies were shut down for poor hygiene practices. 

Of the companies, some produce may have been imported to the UAE, and the authorities are currently tracking down any relevant shipments to destroy the products. 

The produce includes frozen beef and poultry, honey and frozen fish and vegetables

The food control departments UAE-wide are working to ensure none of the tainted products are purchased by residents. 

The ministry advised that all imported and traded products undergo strict control systems in accordance with best international practices at all stages of the food chain – including conducting of laboratory tests as per the risk assessment system, and an early notification system of foods that pose a risk to consumers’ health, according to national news agency WAM.
