This Middle Eastern Country Has The Highest Security Against Terrorism As Per The Global Terrorism Index
Not that it comes as a surprise but according to the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) 2017, Oman is the safest country in the Gulf region.
Oman came 130th in the rankings with 0 points — that means it has the highest security level against terrorism threats.
The Australian-based Economics and Peace Institute issues a report every year ranking countries across the world by using several security criteria.
The government of Oman has always taken a very firm stance on combating terrorism
Oman set up the Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) system in 2002 and introduced a law in 2008 stating that anyone involved in crimes related to terrorism would be jailed for a minimum of 10 years.
Other countries
According to the GTI, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Syria, Iraq and Pakistan were ranked the top five.
In the Gulf region, Oman was followed by Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
