After sweeping across Japan, severe Tropical Storm Soulik is expected to hit the Korean Peninsula on Friday.

As a result, the UAE Embassy in Seoul, South Korea has issued an advisory to all Emiratis residing or visiting the country.

The embassy posted the advisory on its official Twitter account:

“Due to Hurricane Soulik, the UAE Embassy in Seoul advises UAE nationals to take precautions and follow the safety instructions issued by the Korean authorities.”

“For emergencies, please call 00821067444401 or contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs call centre at 80044444 and register with my MoFAI,” it tweeted.

Soulik has reached the equivalent of a Category 3 major hurricane

According to experts, Typhoon Soulik is packing winds of 115 mph—equivalent to a Category 3 hurricane, and is the most immediate threat to Japan’s Amami Islands before riding up South Korea’s west coast between Thursday and Friday.

It’s been advised to keep a close eye on local alerts and any evacuation orders. Basic services such as electricity, clean drinking water, transportation etc may be unavailable on the island for several days.
