"I'm a stone heavier and a month's wages poorer thanks to this one phrase: TREAT YO SELF"

Yup, that sounds about right, but at that same time we all need a little pick-me-up every now and again, and if you're going to do it, do it right.

Here are six GLAM ways to treat yourself (or maybe ideas to spoil someone else) in Dubai...

1. Reach ultimate zen with a hot lava massage

This is the massage of dreams. Hot oils (choose jasmine, lavender or rose) and shells are used in this full body massage that uses heat and touch to relax muscles and relieve tension.

The Address Dubai Marina has a fab spa in the heart of the Marina, as soon as the doors closes, outside noises melt away and you're in for a full hour of relaxation. Once the treatment is done, pick a magazine, take a hot drink and chill out in the relaxation room for as long as you please. Ultimate zen.

How long? Treatment is 60 minutes

How much? AED520 per person

2. Treat yourself to a new 'do

There is nothing like a new do to change your mood, but you need to know you're in good hands.

Head to Headkase located near Mall of the Emirates, it's a relatively new salon but owner Ali and the team will make you feel right at home, and the colouring books mean you'll completely chill out during the process. Services include blowdrys, colouring, highlights, balayage, Keratin treatments, upstyles and more.

How much? Hairstyle and cut starts at AED367

3. Try a hammam massage and never look back

A hammam ritual is an Arabian body treatment involving steam and cleansing black soap and there are plenty of places that do this well in Dubai. The Moroccan Hamman Ritual at Tips & Toes is a brilliant one to try, where the toxins are removed from your body, which in effect allows your body to breath. Annnnnnnddddddd chilll.

4. Book a mani, pedi and blowdry package

Sisters is a salon with a reputation that speaks for itself and you can put yourself in the hands of the pros for a reasonable price tag of AED299. The mani, pedi and blowdry package includes the famous Sisters mani, where therapists use specially lined gloves in a waterless procedure to hydrate and moisturise the skin. Finished off with a blow dry, you'll feel link a million bucks!

How much? AED299 (This is a May promotion price, so book it in quickly!)

5. Treat day is cheat day and this shake is what you've been missing in your life

If you have a cheat day, make it one that counts, and there's possibly no dessert more yapped about in the city than the shakes at Black Tap.

Order it, 'gram it, eat it. #noregrets

How much? Shakes at Black Tap (Jumeirah Al Naseem and Rixos Premium) cost AED69

6. Catch some rays at a beautiful beach club

Dubai is a beach club city and with so many options it's almost too difficult to decide where to rest your head. But the stylish Nikki Beach Dubai will never disappoint.

Open daily, book some spa time, take a lounger at the beach or next to one of the most 'grammed pools in town. The modern all white decor is perfect for a chill day of me time and the healthy salads mean you're getting your daily dose of greens too!

Ladies day at Nikki Beach costs AED130 per lady from 11am to 6pm. This includes entry, six selected drinks and a complimentary day bed. Reservations cannot be made for this in advance so arrive early on the day to secure your spot.
