10 Of The UAE’s Weirdest And Most Wonderful World Records

Avatar

The UAE is a country of world records.

We’ve got the tallest tower in the world, the biggest mall, the biggest water-light projection show (which was just broken recently by Dubai Festival City).

But some of the other records the UAE holds are a little more unusual.

Here are 10 of the most random records held in the UAE.

1. The biggest drivers’ licence

Sharjah Police took this accolade a few months ago, with a massive drivers licence. We’re not sure how practical this is, but good on them.

2. Model of a building with date seeds

A model of Dubai Airport built entirely out of date seeds is a bit of a random one, but if anyone would do it, UAE would…and so they did!

3. Biggest mango sticky rice

Anantara The Palm took out this one, by cooking up a huge 2831kg worth of the Thai dessert.

The best part of this story, is the hotel shared the dish with labourers around Dubai so everyone got to enjoy their accolade.

4. Longest domino drop-shot

The Huddle in Citymax Bur Dubai broke the record for the most shot glasses domino-ing into glasses.

The bar set up 4,578 shots to consecutively tip into glasses.

5. The biggest tin of caviar

Where else would take this award, but the Burj Al Arab? The hotel took out the award in late 2016, along with AmStur Caviar – importing a tin of caviar weighing a huge 17.86kg.

6. Largest packaged food mosaic

A mosaic of food, spanning 24.7m long, and 38.6m wide, the world’s biggest food mosaic was won by Sharp Middle East and Africa at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

After winning the award, the food was all donated to Emirates Red Crescent.

(Guinness World Records require all food to be consumed or donated to be entitled to an official world record)

7. Fastest bed

Lol what? No seriously.

The world’s fastest bed record was broken at the Emirates Motor Sports Complex in Dubai, in association with hotels.com.

It got up to speeds of 135km/ph

8. Most contributions to a greeting card

Dubai took this record back in 2015, with 13,288 signatures. The record belongs to the Dubai Police who organised the signing of the giant card in celebration of UAE National Day.

9. Fastest police car

Okay, not strictly ‘weird’ but this is one of our favourite records.

The Dubai Police hold the record for the world’s fastest police car, thanks to the acquisition of a Bugatti Veyron, which gets up to speeds of 407km/ph.

10. Most blood glucose level tests

In aim to educate UAE residents about heart health, One Heart Health Community organised a blood glucose testing in Dubai Mall – which saw 8,675 people get tested in eight hours.

More than 80 nurses administered the tests, in June 2014.
