5 Cafes In Dubai That Are Perfect For When You Want To Curl Up With A Good Book

Avatar

Mainstream café places can get loud sometimes.

We have gathered a list of cafes that are perfect for a quiet afternoon of reading (or spreading out your study notes).

1. BookMunch Café, Al Wasl Square

Well, it’s all in the name – Book Munch is the perfect safe space for people who love to read!

It’s lined with books (including plenty for children) with a quiet little corner at the back, which is perfect to tuck in for a quiet read.

2. The A4 Space, Al Quoz

The mezzanine floor of this art center is packed with shelves of donated book on all topics – from history to architecture to non-fiction.

The tables fill up fast at peak times but the cushions and rugs make for a comfortable spot to sit in and read.

And its café, Appetite, is perfect for some guilt free snacking – they have even got plenty of vegan options!

3. Kuttab Café, Mirdif

It’s in the name again!

Kuttab is Arabic for books and in this café you will find all sorts of Arabic literature, and some easy-to-please picks from the English side to borrow for a read.

It also frequently hosts events such as book signings to promote local writers that are especially popular with avid Arabic readers.

4. The Magazine Shop, DIFC

It may be located in the city’s business district but that in no ways means that The Magazine Shop lacks any soul.

There is specially curated music, a list of specialty brews and all sorts of very exclusive magazines on display!

(Okay so they have more of an assortment of independent magazines from all across the world than actual literature but, hey, reading is reading, right?)

They also host a number of themed events, from Scrabble nights to the occasional curator-talk!

5. The Archive

You can easily spend hours eating, sipping coffee and browsing a book as natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the grass at Safa Park fill up the space.

We recommend you do!
