For a relatively small city, we are totally inundated with hotel options. From bargain-basement ‘have these sheets even been cleaned?’ to the world’s only seven-star hotel, Dubai has it all.
And while we may enjoy the odd brunch at the five-star offerings, the majority of us realistically can’t afford more than a night or two at the swankier hotels. So we’ve gone and scoured the city to bring you the best of Dubai’s mid-range hotels. Between three and four stars, these spots are all wallet-friendly and conveniently located, but DO NOT compromise on quality.

1. Ibis, Al Barsha – From AED 176
Don’t let the so-so exterior fool you, this is a bargain and a half…and any shoppers dream, since it’s within walking distance of the Mall of the Emirates (although if you visit in summer, we recommend a taxi). Each room comes equipped with Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV (for when you’re flat broke) and extra-comfortable bedding. The hotel boasts a classic Cuban-style bar, Baharat restaurant, which hosts the all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast and dinners, and a sports bar.
2. Pullman Dubai, Jumeirah Lakes Tower – From AED 299*
This is a mega bed & brunch deal, but it’s only valid until June 4th, so take advantage while the offer stands. This modern 4-star hotel is right across from JBR walk, which is in the heart of Dubai’s hottest new dining district. It is also just five minutes walk from JBR beach, a 1.7 km area of open white beach, equipped with public gym, toilet and shower facilities.

For as little as AED 315 per night, you can stay in the superior room at this Downtown hotel. A ten minute car journey, or a hop onto the nearby Metro and you’ll in the heart of Downtown Dubai in no time. The 4-star hotel boasts skyline views, a pool, contemporary decor and a great live jazz bar. The superior room also has a handy sofa-bed, so you could squeeze three people in here if you really wanted to.
5. Emirates Concorde Hotel & Suites, 3.8km from Dubai Airport – From AED 165
For an affordable hotel, only minutes from Dubai airport, look no further. Emirates Concorde Hotel is also located within easy distance of the gold and spice markets and Karama – where a world of (most likely counterfeit) handbags await you.
