7 Characters You’ll See At Barasti Every Weekend

Avatar

We’ve all been there. And when I say ‘there’, I mean Barasti.

The expat favourite is constantly rammed on the weekends and for good reason – given the variety of experiences on offer, it suits the live-music lovers, the sports-fanatics, the dance-music boppers and the after-work drink crowd.

Which means you get all kinds of characters on the weekends. Here are 7 of the standard lot you’ll see at the beach bar.

1 The guy at the door who is being held up by his friends.

You know the guy – he can barely walk and he’s got a mate on either side propping him up. Sorry fellas – you never get past the staunch security.

2 The sports-fanatic who is here to watch the game – not make friends

His gaze rarely leaves the big screen and he’s only here to watch the sports. Don’t try and talk to him, unless it’s about the happenings on the screen. He’ll only move during ad breaks for a drink and be friendly at half-time.

3 The rowdy post-brunchers

They’ve been drinking all day and are looking a little worse for wear. The girls usually have their shoes off, and the guys can barely walk in a straight line… you can’t say they’re not friendly though.

4 The family who were just here for a nice day at the beach and didn’t realise it fills up with party animals at sun-down

They’re usually tourists and just wanted to enjoy the beach passes okay?

5 The hen’s night/cowboy hat-wearing woohoo girls on the dancefloor

It’s someone’s birthday or hen’s night, and these girls are out to PARTY. They’re usually on the dance-floor upstairs in front of the live music act, twirling around before anyone else hits the d-floor.

6 The awkward couple on a first date

Why do they do it? It’s not a good idea to go for a first date, but guaranteed, there’s that awkward couple sitting rigidly at a table making conversation as best they can…in between the thumping music and the drunkies making noise.

7 The die-hard dance fan doing aerobics on the beach in front of the DJ

Ah, this guy (or gal). Dancing the hardest of anyone in the place, this person does the fist-pumps, has all the energetic dance moves and cheers every time a new song comes on.
