The 10 Absolute Best Things That Happened In Dubai In 2016
It’s been an interesting year to say the least, with some sad deaths and a couple of political ‘upsets’ which may shape the course of our future more than we know. So most are welcoming the new calendar year with open arms. But, when we looked back, a lot of good did happen in Dubai in 2016, and we can’t help but smile at the memory of a couple of these.
Here are our favourite moments:
10. When A 6-Year-Old Girl Imitated Sheikh Mohammed And He Totally Fell In Love With It
When this video was released, we had it on repeat. By the way she’s now got her own Instagram page with over 100k followers.
9. When Gordon Ramsay Totally Let Rip At Kris Fade On The Kris Fade Show
Gordon Ramsay just doesn’t hold back here. Listen to the end!
8. When there was a massive rain storm and the entire city stopped working
Some of the videos that we saw were pretty hilarious, but you have to admit this one is pretty funny. Who remembers this guy?
7. When H.H Sheikh Mohammed did a casual photo bomb and nailed it…
He’s just like us! (And it wasn’t the first time that he’s been pictured doing a cool greeting)
6. When a new law meaning all low paid workers would get free paid accommodation
Maybe a small win, but a win nonetheless.
5. When Sheikh Mohammed randomly turned up at the offices of Government employees to check productivity
And he found a couple of empty desks too! We loved this moment, not because it wasn’t our boss checking up on us, but because it’s a brilliant example of Sheikh Mohammed leading from the top.
4. When A Hijab Emoji Was Approved After A Massive Online Campaign
These new emojis will be added to smartphones in 2017
3. When Sheikh Mohammed was pictured chilling at Shake Shack with his son
Or should we call is Sheikh Shack?! The picture pretty much broke the internet the day when it was posted by Her Highness Princess Haya….just adorbs.
2.When we heard that the daughter of HH Sheikh Mohammed On was engaged!
Yep…a royal wedding is on the way and we can’t wait!
1. When the roads got shut down, Dubai Canal opened and a waterfall appeared in the middle of SZR
This was obviously years in the planning, but us regular folk only saw the huge impact the opening Dubai Canal would have on the city last month. A part of the city even effectively became an island!
