10 Brilliant And Free Outdoor Activities You Need To Get Done This April

Avatar

To be honest, we’re too lucky living in Dubai.

The sun shines most days, we live on a coast line with some jaw-droppingly beautiful beaches, our parks are like no-other and lest we forget the sprawling desert that offers an epic range of activities.

Here are ten FREE things you need to get done while the weather is still good.

10. Check out the beautiful birds at Ras Al Khor

This is free during the day and absolutely one of the lesser shouted about, but excellent free activities in the city!

The wildlife sanctuary, which covers an area of 6km, is home to thousands of birds, mammals and fish but it’s the flamingos that people love to snap. The area is protected, however there are viewing spots open to the public during the day.

9. Head to the desert for a BBQ

Or go camping if you’re feeling adventurous Head to the Al Qudra area on any weekend evening and you’ll find cars and jeeps lining the road, setting up BBQs and catching the desert sunset. Nothing beats it.

8. Beaches, beautiful beaches

Dubai sits on the Arabian Gulf and the pristine beaches are a beautiful and free way to spend an entire day.

7. Hit Barsha Park or Kite Beach for a run

6. Watch a movie on a heli-pad

Where else in the world could you do this?!

Happening until April 15 at Dubai Festival City, you DO need to purchase something at the mall (your receipt is your ticket) but this is something you don’t want to miss

More info on timings here

5. Swim in the Arabian Gulf and watch the sunset behind the world’s tallest building

4. Al Qudra Lakes

The man made lake is spread over 10 hectares, and it’s home to over one hundred species of birds. Beautiful spot for an afternoon walk!

3. Beach volleyball

Head to Kite Beach where you’ll find a brilliant community playing volleyball at various nets along the beach.

All you need to bring is a ball!

2. Al Qudra biking tracks

Yup, you need a bike, but this is a fantastic facility open to all Dubai residents and tourists alike. 50km of quality track, and if you rise early, this is one great sport you can keep doing all summer.

1. Find a free festival

Do your homework! The best thing about Dubai is something different is going on every week. Some are ticketed but there’s always plenty of free events going on . This weekend, head to The Beach, JBR for a whole weekend of free fitness activites…
