5 Things Dubai Residents Will Happily Spend FAR Too Much Money On All The Time

Dubai residents enjoy the cheaper things in life – petrol, good curries, free ladies’ nights, cheap taxis and more. 

But there a few things we all are fine with blowing a bit of cash on, and don’t even think twice…. 

1. Brunch

Let’s face it – we all love dropping a bit of cash on a brunch on occasion (sometimes on too many occasions), and will willingly spend upwards of AED450 on one…because it’s fun! 

2. Careems or Ubers

Yes there’s a metro. Yes taxis are cheaper. But we don’t care. We will use the cashless apps to sort cars, and spend that bit more –  just so we don’t have to give a taxi driver directions.

Plus, Lexus for the win! 

3. Food-delivery apps 

No I will NOT speak on the phone. Food-delivery is king in Dubai (it’s too hot and far to go outside and get food, k?), and we all love dropping a bit (or a lot) of cash on a good old lunch or dinner on Deliveroo. 

4. Alcohol in general

Spending AED45 on a pint in other places would be absolutely outrageous, but in Dubai – it’s fairly standard and we’ll all happily do it. Whether we’re conditioned to be fine with it, or just love a drink that much – Dubai residents will spend hundreds of dirhams on a few drinks with dinner.

5. Rent

It’s one of our favourite things to complaint about – the price of rent. BUT that doesn’t mean anyone will move to the outer suburbs to get a better deal. 

Everyone will just pay more to live in town, whether that’s JLT, Dubai Marina, Downtown, Business Bay or Barsha Heights, spending that hard earned cash.
