The Foster Father Of The Abandoned Child At A Dubai Mall Reveals His Part Of The Story

After weeks of back-and-forth searches for the missing parents of the ‘abandoned’ young boy, found wandering in a mall alone.

More sides to the ‘abandoned’ boy’s stories are being revealed, now with his foster father coming into light.

According to the revelations of Ghulam Abbas, a 48-year-old Pakistani national, he and his wife, Mayumi Quindara, 51, from the Philippines had raised the child- whom they call Sadrick, as their own for five years.

The back story

To give a bit of context, the young boy, now known to be half Filipino-Pakistani was found walking around Al Reef Mall in Dubai on September 7. Pretty soon, authorities were contacted and the Dubai Police had revealed the boy’s face on social media, so as to help locate his parents to him- but it resulted to no avail.

Following social media searches, people came forward and were then able to identify who took care of the boy, after which four Filipina women were arrested for illegally taking care of the child. One of them being Quindara, Abbas’ wife. Qindara’s sole reason for having left the boy was due to the inability to take care of him.

Abbas also added that he had previously worked in Dubai for nine years, and rented his home out in Ajman to an Indonesian woman, believed to be the mother of the child.

When speaking about his wife, now in prison for having abandoned the child and illegally taking care of him, he said, “All she wanted was the welfare of the child by giving him a legal status. She was also under pressure from me as I told her to give the child back to his original mother, but she probably did not know where she is and then she made the mistake of making up the story at the time of handing over the child to the police.”

He told local media that he wishes for his wife’s freedom so that the couple can adopt the boy as their own. But as the UAE law clearly states, only Emiratis are allowed to adopt children.
