You maybe thinking its 2019 and all we’ve invented so far are silly bandz and the keto diet, although what you may not see behind the scenes are all the preps that are going into making your future as smooth as possible.

Dubai has launched their plan *for making the city at least 25% of their total transportation completely autonomous by the year 2030!

What this means for Dubai…

Like us, you might be wondering what exactly that means?

So autonomous transportation are typically driverless vehicles that pilot around without human interference.

This plan is under the direction and supervision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; the project is in association with the Dubai Future Foundation in conjunction with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

His Highness also stated that the strategy would be focusing on four pillars: individuals, technology, policies and legislations and infrastructure.

The benefits of an autonomous city is endless

This venture being the foundation to a futuristic city is aiming to make Dubai the smartest city in the world and achieve a sustainable economy in the UAE. This project has been commended in helping reduce the levels of pollution and traffic in the city, as well as assist in reducing hours of travel time within the city and increase individual productivity rates.

Moreover, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum mentions that:

“Dubai is making a qualitative paradigm shift to harness artificial intelligence in the service of the humanity and set a world unparalleled model for future cities.”
