Dubai Resident Wins AED 3.67 Million And Here's What He Plans To Do With It
A Dubai resident on a monthly salary of AED 8,000 just won AED 3.67 million (US$ 1 million) in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium competition.
Mohammad Basheer Abdul Khadar bought the AED 1,000 ticket when travelling to Thiruvananthapuram during the Eid break. Little did he know that his 17th attempt would prove lucky. In fact, VERY LUCKY as his was the winning ticket of the 5,000 that were sold.
He was also on the Emirates flight that crash landed earlier this month...
The 62-year-old, a fleet administrator with a car dealer group, has been in Dubai for 37 years and will retire in four months’ time. For those who are thinking it, let's just say it loud for you...yes, he will retire a millionaire. However the win won't stop him from working until his actual retirement date.
What he plans to do with the money...
Khadar told Gulf News that he does not want to give the money to a charity or build a business. He wants to find people who really need money and help them instead. Because he has experienced poverty, he much rather help those who genuinely need it.
It hasn't always been easy for him...
Over his working years, he has had to pay off a loan of AED 99,000. The money was borrowed to cover his son's treatment. Due to a fall, the boy became paralysed just days after he was born.
