Misconception Cleared: Expats Can Legally Work Part Time For Another Company

Who doesn’t want to make some extra money?

If you have been toying with the idea of working on a part-time basis with a different employer, apart from your regular job but thought that it may break the law, there is good news for you.

It is a common misconception that expats in the UAE can’t work part-time

The Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation allows expats to pursue part-time jobs by obtaining a work permit.

A part time or (temporary) work permit is a permit under which expats can work anywhere in UAE after completing their duties with existing employers

An NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the existing employer is required and the employee must be registered at the ministry or hold valid identity cards (such as a labour card or an Emirates ID).

Students who wish to apply for a part-time work permit must be over 18.
