Social media has been quite a debatable subject.

On the one hand, it serves the ultimate purpose of connecting the world and solidifying our ‘oneness’, but on the other side; apps like Instagram and Facebook and the analytics behind content marketing has resulted in a more anxious society.

But a health and travel journalist, Danae Mercer, based in Dubai is squashing all the negative connotations that come with the ‘gram with a series of refreshing posts. Mercer posts about the realities behind the photos she takes and strives to remind her audience (a whopping 35k following) that influencers and everyone on social media are just like the rest of us.

It is flawed, and beautiful, as should be.

In a recent IG post, she proved just this by stating her age and status in life- empowering women of all ages to be proud and not let society dictate what should and shouldn’t be depending on an individual’s age.

That absolutely is not shameful.  I feel like I’ve always known a woman ‘shouldn’t tell her age’ – because that means we are old and women definitely shouldn’t be that. But this is ridiculous. My 30s have been SO much better than my 20s, and I honestly can’t wait for what is next. Today let’s celebrate where we are and where we want to go – even if it’s just home for a cuddle with a kitten.”
