Here Are 4 Challenging Sports You Can Get Involved In That Are Probably Not On Your Radar

HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is taking over social media, challenging Dubai’s biggest entities to take part in the Dubai Fitness Challenge, and who knows, your company could be next.

If you accept, the aim is to complete thirty minutes of fitness for thirty days straight from October 20 to November 18. But what if traditional sports aren’t tempting you to get active?

Here are four challenging sports to get involved in that you probably haven’t thought of…

1. Try your hand at paddle tennis – Emirates Golf Club

Paddle tennis (or Real Tennis) is a mixture between tennis and squash and is a faster version of both games. Play in either pairs of doubles. You can reserve courts at Emirates Golf Club, info here:

If it’s good enough for Fazza…

2. Gaelic football – Jumeirah Gaels FC

Gaelic football is an Irish team sport and the huge gaelic football community here is testament to the love of it. If this is new to you, think of the team sport as a mix between soccer and rugby where the team needs to bounce and kick the ball into the opponent’s goal.

3. Mixed tip rugby – Dubai Exiles Rugby Club

Rugby might be too hands on for many, but no-contact mixed tip rugby is a fun (and safe) way to get involved in a mixed team.

Where? Try the Dubai Exiles  Rugby Club

4. Bouldering – Rock Republic

And you don’t even need to leave the city! There are a number of rock-climbing walls located in malls throughout Dubai, but Rock Republic located at Dubai Investment Park is the only indoor bouldering facility in the UAE.

(Bouldering is similar to rock climbing, but without the use of a harness and ropes, and it’s done at lower heights.)
