It happens to the best of us – we get caught underestimating the traffic on Dubai’s busiest road.
One car pulled over can wreck havoc – or an accident then spills into several accidents from rubbernecking.
Being stuck on SZR traffic can elicit all kinds of emotions, particularly if you’re stuck there on a Thursday night.
Denial: Those aren’t brake-lights up ahead are they? Oh…they are
Remorse: Why didn’t I take Al Khail!?
Anger: You check Google Maps and see the traffic is banked back all the way from Marina to DWTC…And the expletives start flowing
Acceptance: You know it’s going to be at least another 45 minutes, so you have to make the call that you’re going to be late
Rage: More expletives, more anger, particularly at that guy who cut you off to try and get in the 2m gap you left between the car in front of you
Hope: Are we…are we moving!?
Depression: Oh, no wait…we’re not moving
Anger again: When you see what everyone was slowing down for – a car with a flat tyre!?
Relief: That feeling when you can accelerate out of the traffic to freedom
