Tragedy struck this Friday when four Filipino expatriates were killed in a car crash. The expats, including three men and a woman, were partaking in a Good Friday pilgrimage when their vehicle was hit by another car. Four of them died at the scene and two women are in critical condition at an Abu Dhabi hospital. The accident occurred on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway near Shahama. It is suspected that following a burst tyre, the Filipinos exited their vehicle to inspect it and another vehicle hit them from behind.

A senior Abu Dhabi Traffic Police official advised motorists on how to avoid danger in the case of a break down.

“You should try to move the vehicle to shoulder, if possible and switch hazard lights on. You should not stay inside the car in such circumstances.”  He suggested to stay away from the vehicle and seek help from police immediately. “Always keep a safe distance from the vehicle,” the envoy advised.
