A Dubai Influencer Was Able To Get His Stolen AED2 Million Lamborghini Back….All Thanks To Instagram

We take to social media for a lot of things— to perpetuate our narcissitic tendencies, to stalk people, complain about customer care services, but for one Emirati man, social media helped track down the thieves who stole his AED2 milion Lamborghini Aventador — and guess what, it worked like a charm!

How the story unfolded

This all started when Abdullah Alfahim, a 30-year-old Dubai-based social media influencer used the services of a car shipping company to move his Lambo from Cannes to London.

He posted a photo of his supercar on Instagram showing that he was taking it on a European trip with him, something he does frequently.

As a result, the person behind the shipping company created a fake Insta account and approached him to help ship the car to London.

“The so-called company picked up my car from Intercontinental Hotel in Cannes where I was staying. A day before I flew to London, the man called me and said the Lamborghini will be at the hotel in London in one hour.

He blocked my number after that and I never heard from him again,” Alfahim spoke to Khaleej Times.

He realised that his car was stolen

According to Khaleej Times, he immediately contacted the Interpol, the European Police Office and the UAE embassy in London which started a hunt for the car.

He and his fellow influencer friends also posted about the theft on Instagram in a post which went viral in no time. The police was able to locate the car in Poland and also arrested a Polish national in connection with the theft.

“He had apparently shipped the supercar from France to Italy to Poland. He was planning to continue the journey to Russia and Ukraine, but thanks to the Interpol, Polish police and embassy, he was stopped,” said he.

In a series of Insta stories, Alfahim also added photos of the suspect and the Polish policeman standing alongside his Lamborghini.

“The outreach on social media was overwhelming, and thankfully it helped the police find it,” he concluded.
