This Story About A Dubai Resident And The RTA Will Forever Make You Grateful For Our Services

The greatest thing about Dubai is all the services we have – and we take for granted.

This story of Manju Ramanan and her taxi driver not only will make you realise how amazing our services in the UAE are, but how lucky Manju is as well!

We’ve all experienced losing something in a cab and our gut feeling telling us we’d never find it again, but luckily Manju defied all that and got back her jewellery worth AED7,000 after leaving it in a cab.

How it all started

Manju Ramanan stopped a taxi from Barsha Heights and was asked to be dropped off in Barsha around 6:30pm with a bag filled with semi-precious jewellery that she was returning to a friend.

As they dealt with the typical rush-hour traffic around Barsha, Manju decided to get out of the cab and walk to her destination instead, casually leaving behind the bag worth AED6,000-7,000 in the backseat.

Not realising until the cab was no where in sight, Manju felt terrible about her carelessness as she had not even had a cab number, contact details or a receipt.

RTA to the rescue

How many times have you attempted to find something that you left in the back-seat of a cab? Only to realise that it’s not worth the hassle and heartbreak of hearing, “We’ll call you back when if we find out more”?

In this situation it was different – Manju and her friends hurried to make complaints to the RTA in regards to the situation, making sure it was flagged as urgent.

And it was all like God was looking out for Manju on this day, because guess how long it took them until they called her back?

15 minutes later

Within exactly 15 minutes, RTA had called back confirming that the bag, with ALL the items, was found and that the taxi driver would drop it off at her address within an hour.

The only conditions was that she contact the driver and pay his fare.

How amazing is our RTA system?
