A former Empost employee was charged in the Court of First Instance for embezzling more than AED 493,000 from work. Although he is still at large, the Egyptian man reportedly began using his job as a revenue collector in January 2014. He was also accused by prosecutors, of embezzling public funds, forgery and using forged documents.

The public prosecution records uncovered that the man had access to the e-system which he abused greatly by falsely claiming he put revenues on record and using other forged receipts with the same serial numbers to cover up his crimes. A complaint was filed against him at Al Rashidiyah police station. A Security Department director said, “The defendant had been working for Empost Dubai since August 2007. His duties were to collect fees from customers and then deposit them in the Emirates Post treasury.”
