We all know that Dubai has changed extraordinarily over the last few decades.

But it’s still an undeniable SHOCK when old photos of iconic landmarks in the city turn up – minus the shiny skyscrapers, pristine roads and congested traffic.

This old photo of the famous Emirates Golf Club surfaced on Twitter and it’s like looking at another city entirely

The photo was taken in 1988, the year the Emirates Golf Club was built, in fact. It was shared by the History Lovers Club Twitter account, and it’s a treat for Dubai residents!

Without the backdrop of the stunning Dubai Marina skyline, it’s hard to believe that the picture was taken in Dubai at all.

It’s a mark of the rapid progress here and the ambition of the city’s leaders to bring Dubai so far in the span of little more than two years.

And it makes us really glad that we live here!
