The Spectacular Roof For Apple’s New HQ Was Made In Dubai And Shipped All The Way To California

The roof of Apple’s newest headquarters was manufactured in Dubai and was transported and assembled in Cupertino where the project is set to be completed by the end of the year.

Designed by architect firmĀ Foster and Partner, the campus, theatre and facilities have been spoken about for almost five years – giving it a great amount of attention during its development phase due to its spaceship-like design.

It has been said that the installation of the curved glass panels for the main building is about one-third completed since the opening is scheduled for 2017.

In addition to its magnificent structure, it has been said that the most stunning addition is the roof seeing as it will be the largest free-standing carbon-fiber roof ever created. This piece was designed and created by Dubai’sĀ Premier Composite TechnologiesĀ and is made up of 44 identical radial panels with a 70 feet long and 11 feet wide dimension.

Weighing 80 tons, the roof was tested in a Dubai desert before being shipped to California.
