Dubai Municipality Have Had To Dismiss Claims That Chemicals Are Being Used To Make Tea

There was a rumor going around social media recently that chemicals were being used to make tea in the UAE. It was said that Epichlorohydrin, used in pesticides, was also in tea bags. Dubai Municipality said people shouldn’t be deceived and set the record straight. There are clear directives in place for the production of all tea in the UAE and an emphasis that Gulf and international rules are applied. 

Comprehensive tests to make sure tea is safe

“[Items] have to undergo a comprehensive analysis to make sure that they are free from anything that is detrimental to the health and safety of consumers and the community in Dubai. We ensure they are free from the dangers of any illegal substances, they are also tested to make sure that they are free of carcinogens in order to preserve public health and safety of citizens and residents, and all the foodstuffs adhere to international specifications in food control”
