Dubai is going tea-total!

First things first, for those who may have missed it, there is such a thing as a Global Tea Forum, similar perhaps to the World Economic Forum in Davos, except about tea.

This year, running for the 6th time, the event called ‘Talking Tea’, took place in the DMCC Tea Centre. This centre processes 41 million kilos of tea each year from 13 different countries (Kenya, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Vietnam, Japan, Uganda and China). There is a whole world of tea business right under our noses that we never knew about.

Something is ‘brewing’

Dubai creating its own brand isn’t something we haven’t heard before, from the tourism branding to designing its own font. But its own tea? That’s exactly what was announced at the Global Tea Forum this week by Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, DMCC.

The brand of tea will be called Shay Dubai and come in three flavours; Khaliji Blend, Dubai Spirit and Arabic Breakfast. Sounds fun…as long as it’s not too much of a STRAIN on the economy (sorry!).

This is a perfect excuse to share five quality tea puns…
