World’s first hospital—exclusively for camels—has opened its doors in Marmoun, Dubai.

Consisting of state-of-the-art medical equipment and huge operating theatres, Dubai Camel Hospital, which opened last week, can treat up to 20 camels at a time and is worth AED40 million.

Camels are very important to Gulf heritage

Camels form an integral part of the Arab heritage in this side of the gulf, and according to Mohammad Al Beloushi, Dubai Camel Hospital’s director, preserving that heritage is the hospital’s major goal.

“We found that we must care for camels not only by breeding and raising themAl Bel, but also by being able to medically treat them.

The hospital has already become a hit among the locals so much so that prior booking to visiting the hospital is now a mandate.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Malltoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai also paid a visit to the hospital last week.
