With new restaurants, concert venues, bars, and cultural hubs being launched just about every week, it can be a little difficult to keep track of it all year round.

To help you get started on what to expect out of Dubai this year, here is a rundown on some of the biggest launches that can be expected in the coming months.

Here are 9 things to look forward to in Dubai in 2019

1. The Museum of the Future

The Museum of the Future was first announced in 2015, and has been under construction ever since in front of Emirates Towers on Sheikh Zayed Road.

It is expected to be “an incubator for ideas, a driver for innovation, and a destination for inventors and entrepreneurs from around the world” and the construction of its structure was completed in November, 2018 and the futuristic attraction is expected to be fully complete this year.

2. Sky bar – 2.0

SKY2.0 will be the first overseas extension of the iconic Lebanese superclub, Skybar. It is expected to open some time this year in Dubai Design District and while not too many details have been released yet, expect some great music, and major celeb-spotting opportunities.

3. The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences

There have been a couple of design changes for The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences but it is still very much confirmed to open later this year.

The 46-storey development, located on Palm Jumeirah, will operate as a sister hotel to Atlantis, The Palm – and boasts almost 800 guest rooms and more than 230 serviced apartments upon completion.

And there is ALREADY a line-up of celebrity chefs expected to open restaurants there – including the Iranian-American chef and author, Ariania Bundy, and British celebrity chef, Heston Blumenthal.

4. The Pointe, Palm Jumeirah

Nakheel’s The Pointe is slowly but surely coming to life at basically what is the tip of The Palm Jumeirah, across the bay from Atlantis, and is going to be a causal 1.4 million square feet of waterfront retail, dining, and entertainment.

Expect even more restos and shopping opportunities to roll out here in the coming year.

5. Dubai Arena

Dubai Arena by Meraas will be opening early this year in City Walk and is going to seriously upgrade concert-going experiences in the city.

The Arena will be able to host at least 17,000 people and will be open all year round.

It is also going to have direct walkway that connects to to the Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa metro link to help out with congestions. Fingers crossed for a big name for the opening!

6. The Night Markets at Deira Islands

The Deira Night Souq is expected to be the biggest night market in the world and will be the first signficant completed project on Deira Islands.

The night markets will open after sunset and stay open past midnight and will have everything required in the making of a good old-fashioned souq – think of lots of bargaining on spices and souvenirs.

7. Mohammed bin Rashid Library

You have probably already noticed the construction of this massive seven-storey library when driving past Jaddaf (across the Creek from Dubai Festival City).

The library is well intro construction and is expected to open some time this year. It has been designed to resemble an open book sitting on a rehl – a lectern that traditionally is used to hold a copy of the Quran. It is expected to be the largest cultural centre in the region and will be housing more than 4.5 million books.

Dubai is set to get its own branch of famed waxwork museum Madame Tussauds very soon – some time this year.

It will be located on Bluewaters, the island development off The Beach at JBR and they are keeping the details of the who might appear in the first Middle Eastern location very hush hush – petition to get a Fazza wax work anyone?!

9. Free wi-fi in every taxi!
