It’s not news that jumping a red light is incredibly dangerous and it’s one fine we can stand behind. In just the first four months of 2017, a whopping 10,000 drivers have been fined for jumping a red light. The statistics come from Dubai Police officials who announced that there will be new penalties in place for the traffic violation.

The penalties will start on 1 July and they've gone up

Violators will now pay AED 1,000 - as opposed to the previous AED 800, for jumping a red signal and face 12 black points on their license. In the first quarter of the year, jumping red lights has injured 38 people and caused 33 accidents.
