The Dubai Police have launched a new surveillance project in Dubai, called Oyoon (Eyes),which will be aided by new technology and artificial intelligence

The latest move is in line with Dubai’s 2021 plan with a view to improve the emirate’s global safety rating and provide a safe place for citizens,  residents and tourists.

The announcement was made today by Dubai police

HE Major General Ibrahim Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri , Assistant Commandant for Criminal Investigations of Dubai Police explained that the aim of the project is to “create an integrated security system that works through all strategic partners to exploit modern and sophisticated technologies and artificial intelligence features to prevent crime, reduce traffic accident related deaths, prevent any negative incidents in residential, commercial and vital areas and to be able to respond immediately to incidents even before they get reported to the command unit.”

The advanced technology will be able to analyse the footage without human intervention.

It can then alert authorities to a crime or emergency before it has even been reported.

This reduces the number of police needed to be physically present in order to patrol areas. Now they will be able to work more efficiently and respond quickly when needed.

Combining CCTV technology from various public and private sectors into one streamlined place will allow authorities to quickly respond to crime.

Footage and information collected will be sent a main control room, allowing police to gather information quickly and analyse it in a more efficient manner, therefore reducing crime throughout the emirate.

Another step toward the future for Dubai!
