People In Dubai Are Calling 999 For The Most Bizarre Reasons And Dubai Police Want You To Stop

Avatar

The number 999 is an emergency helpline number for the people of Dubai, but what you think constitutes as an emergency might not actually be one.

The Dubai Police are inundated with the craziest calls on the helpline and they are now urging you to think before you dial.

From complaining about a headache to asking location of nearby pharmacies and hospitals, an increasing number of people are using the emergency number for non-emergency purposes.

Some more absurd reasons

One of the more recent calls included a European woman calling the helpline because she was sad she had found a bird with a broken wing on Jumeirah Beach and wanted the police to send an ambulance.

Another call was made by a young child after he lost his bicycle. Yet another call was placed by a man accusing his neighbour of poisoning his chicken, which he raised in his own house.

Be mindful of when you pick the phone to dial 999

All your non-emergency calls should be directed to the toll-free number of 901, so that the actual helpline is clear for people who need it more than you.
