Want to get fit in 2016? Here are 6 of the best gym offers around

Avatar

Year in, year out, getting fit makes an appearance in the New Years resolutions top ten list. No surprises here –  working out is linked to so many other good resolutions: ditch the smokes; lose the spare tire; diminish that dependency on french fries, etc.

But if the gym in your building happens to be tiny and/or poorly equipped it can be difficult to muster the inspiration for perspiration. As luck would have it, some of Dubai’s top notch gyms have cooked up special offers to add some extra fuel to your fitness fire. We’ve put together a list of some of the hottest deals available throughout this January for you newly avowed gym rats. You’ve got about three weeks to get on it so go ahead sign up already!

Fitness HQ

Location: Umm Suqeim Road, Barsha 2

This homegrown Emirati gym boasts over 23,000 sq. of premium weight and cardio equipment; highly-specialised trainers; and a packed roster of classes focused on calorie-smashing, muscle-sculpting HIIT (that’s ‘high intensity interval training’ for us couch potatoes). They’ve also got plenty of space ‘to do your own thing’. What we love about this place is their no BS-attitude towards fitness and health: you get access to top-of-the-range equipment, personal training and group classes without any of the hidden charges or join-up fees.

The deal: Get a 6-month membership valued at AED 2,250 for AED 1,995, or better yet, a 12-month membership valued at AED 3,995 shaved down to AED 3,250.

TribeFit

Location: Silverene Tower, Dubai Marina

Single and ready to mingle? New to Dubai and want to make friends? Don’t mind working out while people chat to you? Then this is the place for you, although one Lovin Dubai contributor joined four months ago and is yet to speak to anyone in there…it could just be her.

The concept behind TribeFit is ‘social fitness’ – working out in a space that isn’t merely a gym, but a social club, cafe and lounge all rolled into one. The 22,000 sq.ft. facility (which comes equipped with an in-house DJ, obviously) is divided into zones called things like ‘Spin City’, ‘Fight Club’, ‘Build Lab’ and whatnot. TribeFit also offers a ridiculous number of group exercise sessions every week including beachside bootcamps and classes we’ve never even heard of before (SH’BAM™, anyone?). And to really drive the community fitness concept home, this gym comes with a packed social calendar that involves monthly parties, weekend brunches, movie nights and camping trips.

The deal: According to their website, you can save over AED 1,000 off your membership if you sign up now. But ‘terms and conditions apply’ – what those T&C’s are, and how much more than AED 1,000 can you really get off your membership, we really don’t know. But it’s worth checking out.

Fit Republik

Location: The Academies, Dubai Sports City

This mammoth facility – clocking in at just under 97,000 sq.ft.(!!!) – doesn’t only offer brilliant group fitness classes and state-of-the-art equipment (that’s pretty standard amongst all the gyms on this list really) – it’s got the facilities and trainers for CrossFit, aquatics, gymnastics, martial arts, AND Olympic weightlifting. What more could you want from a gym?

The deal: If you join up in Jan. you get AED 1,000 off the annual membership fee so you can enjoy Fit Republik’s amaze-balls facilities for a rather affordable AED 3,800. You’d best get on that right away if you know what’s good for you.

Fitness 360

Locations: Arabian Centre, Mirdif; Mazaya Centre, somewhere between Business Bay, DIFC, and Downtown; China Cluster, International City; J3 Mall, Al Wasl Road

The Fitness 360 brands is all about accessibility: they offer affordable world class fitness options with what they like to call a ‘holistic approach’ that goes beyond the time spent sweating it out at the gym. What’s interesting is that each branch is set up to cater to the needs of the neighbourhood it’s in. So the International City branch is a no fuss express gym whilst the Jumeirah branch is a ladies-only facility. The other two are mixed gyms with all the gym stuff you could ask for.

The deal: According to their website, if you join up now, you get three months free. The offer isn’t really detailed at all, but we’re assuming that it applies to a yearly membership. We also have no idea what a basic membership there costs given that there are four branches with different amenities. But the long and short of it is you get three months for free. Yay!

Talise Fitness

Location: Jumeirah Emirates Towers, DIFC

Ooh la la…If you’re a corporate type that happens to have a working schedule that’s nowhere near 9 to 5 (sorry mate), here’s a little something that may add a little bit of cheer to the drudgery of life in the DIFC. While there are a couple of other nice gyms in the vicinity, the Jumeirah Hotel brand’s luxury New York-loft-style gym comes with a whole lot of perks: 20% off the hotel’s restaurants and bars, 10% off of the best available room rates, 20% off Talise Spa’s luscious treatments, and 25% off hair treatments at a premium hair salon. WOWZA!

The deal: If you join up now you get 25% knocked off the annual membership package which brings the usual AED 7,000 fee down to a somewhat more affordable AED 5,250. That said, if you’re working all those DIFC hours you’ve earned it.

Note: While Talise Fitness has other branches at the Jumeirah Hotels, this offer is only valid at the Emirates Towers location.

Fitness First

Locations: 21 branches all over the place

It’s hard to write a post about gyms in Dubai without mentioning this behemoth of a brand. There’s one in almost every area in Dubai, so if you’ve got the multi-club membership you can pop in just about anywhere for a quick workout if you’re the sort who’s got their gym kit on them at all times. While not all the locations offer the same group exercise classes, the chain as a whole in Dubai, has more classes than you can shake a stick at – one more reason to get that multi-club membership. Couple that with high-end cardio and weight training equipment, it’s kind of hard to say no to FF.

The Deal: Fitness First is celebrating it’s tenth anniversary in the Middle East so they’re giving away 10 months of membership for the price of 6. Not too shabby, eh?
