Emirates Passengers Travelling From These 12 Countries MUST Have A Negative COVID-19 Test Before Travel

Emirates has outlined specific travel requirements for passengers from certain countries.

As COVID-19 travel restrictions loosen and Dubai opens up to tourists from all over the world, the Dubai airline has listed travel requirements on its website, stating passengers from specific countries will need to provide a COVID-19 negative test before they travel.

From July 10, the countries will need a COVID-19 negative cert from an approved lab to be accepted on the flight. Where specified, a certificate from a UAE government-designated laboratory in the country of origin is also acceptable. Certificates must be issued no more than 96 hours before departure. All other countries should also take a COVID-19 PCR test 96 hours before your flight, however, for all other countries, this can be done at DXB if needed.

The countries this guideline applies to

  • Afghanistan
  • Bangladesh
  • Egypt
  • India
  • Iran
  • Nigeria
  • Pakistan
  • Philippines
  • Russian Federation
  • Sudan
  • Tanzania
  • USA – Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Orlando (MCO), including passengers originating from California, Florida and Texas connecting to an Emirates flight to Dubai.

For all other tourists, you must meet the following guidelines, according to Emirates

  • Depending on your nationality you can get a visa on arrival, or you can apply for your visit visa from Dubai Immigration before you travel
  • You must have travel insurance with COVID-19 cover or declare at check-in that you will bear the costs for treatment and isolation if necessary before you travel. Bring an insurance certificate stating COVID-19 coverage to present at check-in.
  • You must take a COVID-19 PCR test 96 hours before your flight and bring your negative COVID-19 test certificate with you when you travel. This also applies to children. A PCR test is also available on arrival in Dubai, if you haven’t taken one in your home country (excluding travellers arriving from the countries above, who must have a negative test to be accepted on the flight).
  • If you take the PCR test on arrival in Dubai, you must self-isolate until you receive your test result.
  • If your test result is negative, you can leave your hotel and enjoy your trip as normal.
  • If the test result is positive, you must follow the advice of the Dubai Health Authority and stay in self-isolation.
  • All travellers to Dubai, including passengers with a connecting flight, must complete this health declaration form and give it to the staff at check-in. This form will also be available at check-in.
  • You will also need to complete the quarantine undertaking form given to you on board if Dubai is your final destination. Hand this form to the Dubai Health Authority staff on arrival.
