Etihad Are Entering The European Market To Go Head To Head With The Likes Of Ryanair And Easyjet

It’s a soaring start as Etihad Aviation Group has officially approved the plans to create a new leisure airline group. This is part of a joint venture with the Dutch charter airline TUI AG, a statement released read. The group will have a fleet of 60 aircrafts which equates to roughly 15 million seats per year and plans to target European tourist markets. The destinations that are currently in discussion include the Canary Islands, Spain and Greece. 

“The new leisure airline group, headquartered in Vienna, is scheduled to begin operations in April 2017, the start of the summer season, serving a broad network of destinations from Germany, Austria and Switzerland (Hanover, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, Nuremberg, Baden-Baden, Hamburg, Basel and Vienna).”

The new group is expected to launch its operations in April of next year to prepare for the busy summer season.
