Gang That Threatened Exchange-House Employees With Knives Have Been Sentenced To Prison

Six men will have been sentenced to three year sentences for stealing AED 3.6 million from exchange house employees at knife-point.

The defendants have appealed against the sentence handed to them by the Dubai Criminal Court.

The Dubai Court of Appeal rejected their request and upheld the verdict

The men contacted an employee at the exchange house and asked for the exchange of US$1 million (AED 3.673 million) into dirhams, reports The National.

The Indian employee, 30, said that the exchange was a good deal for the business but they didn’t have the amount ready at the exchange house so they agreed to meet in a hotel room with the money at a later point.

Upon meeting, the defendants threatened them with the knife and used duct tape to gag them and tie them up. The men managed to untie themselves and called police from the hotel room.

All of the convicted men will be deported after serving their sentences.
