The Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan will share his private collection of photographs with the public for the first time.

The showcase will come at the Dubai Photo Exhibition and will offer an insight into life before the Emirates were formed in the 1950s and 1960s, and then the 1970s, when the UAE officially came into existence.

One photo shows the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, grandfather of the Crown Prince, speaking to a journalist about his aspirations and projects.

Another shows a group from the Al Awamir tribe in Al Ain in the 1960s, it shows the custom of mothers dressing up up their firstborn child using make-up.

Organised by the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award, and supported by the World Photography Organisation, the exhibition will take place from 16 to 19 March at the ‘temporary museum’ In Dubai Design District.
