Is this how we’ll all be getting around Dubai soon?
As much as we love the metro here in Dubai (it’s pretty cheap, clean and straightforward compared to the systems other countries offer), what we really love, is getting a cab or an Uber or a Careem.
Well, there may now be a new challenger on the block: Smart Bike UAE.
What’s not to like? It’s new, it’s cheap (although we’re yet to get exact prices) and best of all it’s environmentally-friendly.
It’s kicking off in the Business Bay area as part of a soft launch, if it’s successful we’re expecting an expansion to other areas of Dubai. The Smart Bike, which was originally started in Germany, can work for you either as a passenger or cyclist, with bikes available for hire at kiosks at three different locations: Business Bay Metro Station, Bay Square and Bay Avenue.
“The soft launch of this unique concept is already proving to be very popular among the community of Business Bay,” said Mohamed Bin Essa, executive director Retail and Commercial Properties, Dubai Properties.
“We’re always exploring and introducing new and innovative options to facilitate and enhance the lives of the residents and visitors of our destinations, and Smart Bikes makes a perfect addition to what Business Bay has to offer.
“Now our visitors can swiftly move between their offices, to the malls, or to the metro stations, and enjoy a new green and safe transportation concept.”
Well, it’s affordable and it’s green…it gets our vote!
