An Italian Lawyer Wants To Sue Emirates After His Recent Flight

We meet all sorts of fellow passengers on flights. 

Some are talkative, some make you move multiple times so they can go to the bathroom, some fall asleep on your shoulder but you let it go or try to let it go, right? 

But that’s not the case with this Italian lawyer. Arabian Business reported that the dude wants to sue Emirates because he had to “suffer” a nine-hour flight from Cape Town to Dubai being sat next to an obese man. Ouch, that’s rude!

Giorgio Destro is demanding around AED 11,300 in compensation

The sum includes the cost of the flight and money in damages.

A few hours into the flight he asked if he could change seats as the passenger was taking up some of his seat, but the airline staff told him the plane was fully booked and they did not offer him an apology or compensation.

A ‘gold member’ of the airline, Destro’s case is scheduled for 20 October in Padua and Emirates has said it cannot comment on any ongoing legal case.

This is what he said:

“For nine hours, I had to stand in the aisle, sit on seats reserved for the cabin crew when they were free, and in the final phase of flight resign myself to suffer the ‘spillover’ of the passenger at my side.”
