Dubai’s weather really cranked up a notch this past weekend with weather reportedly reaching a freezing (by Dubai’s standards) 8 degrees celcius… and we loved it!

However, the weather managed to cause quite a mess in our city. On Friday, 3rd February, an entire lightening rod crashing down on Nassima Royall Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road.

A lightening rod fell, not a crane

According to a report on The National, Dubai Municipality confirmed that the crane was in fact a large section of a lightening rod that was fixed atop one of the towers of the twin tower building that fell due to the strong winds and unstable weather.
