A little extra information always helps…
The school, located in Al Ras area of Deira, was founded in 1912 by the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Dalmouk who was a prominent pearl merchant. Scientists and scholars from neighbouring Arab countries taught at the school, but classes were held there only until 1958.
For students studying there, getting to school meant using an abra to cross the Creek
In 1994 it was converted into a historical museum. Visitors can have a tour free of charge from Saturday to Thursday from 8am to 7.30pm and from 2.30pm to 7.30pm on Fridays. Learn more here.
